Post Palio di Stonemarche report

SCA
1. You all missed out on a really great time.  Fun for all, literally.  Serious fun.  Sense of humor required!

2.  You KNOW you are all having a really good time when a full day of rain and 2-3 inches of standing water in everyone's camps doesn't send *anyone* packing.

3.  The warm companionship of the Shubelka clan is matched only by the warmth of their generously lent woolens.  We had a blast folks, thank you!

4.  Absofreakinglutely knackered, but happy to report that first SCA camping trip as a single parent was a huge success, in no small part due to the Contrada Hippocampi and Shubelka clan.  Thank you!!!

5.  Yes, Freya, that means we're on for GNEW.  Get packing, you!  >:)

Oh yay! I'm glad it all went so well; I was thinking of you guys in the pouring rain this weekend.

I really wish I could've gone, I first learned about it at Panteria and it sounds like so much fun! But this weekend was literally the only free weekend in June, and it would've been much too hectic for us :(

Hopefully next year though =D

Mark it on your mental calendar now! Besides the four of us, only three other VTers were there at all, and they all day tripped! This event was WAY too much fun to miss, and there were dogs there for Bella to play with, too!

Oh awesome! =D That's nice to know that they're dog friendly :)

I especially wanted to see if I could show off my own device colours and such (since I hear that's one of the focuses of the event), and to try my luck at submitting my illuminations in the A&S competition too :)

As it stands, I might not be going to the convention in Pittsburgh next year (I might take a break from it...depending on how my sales are this year), so if that's the case, we can definitely go then :) And...hopefully the convention in Montreal won't conflict it with being on the same weekend >.>

Each contrada has their own heraldry, but Sole is all about the purple, so join them!

The A&S show was awesome. I entered some of my handsewn garments!

HUZZAH!!!!!! Though I must admit I've been making plans anyhow. I knew you could all make it work. :-)

I shall now pack in earnest. Will there be room for the mattress? Not the cot. Just the mattress. Other than that it's just the one garb bag and my meds and walker. Oh... I'll have a freezer bag as well. I pay for me and Ernie's camp fees with bacon and a case of Cdn. coke usually. :-)

We obviously need to take your walker so you can get out of the freaking car, but if someone else could take your mattress, that would be a big plus. As it is, we're going to need to enlist someone tall to help unload the roof rack when we get there, since I can't reach it!

I'll see what I can do for the mattress. Or, I might just buy a new one when Ernst and I go for dinner. :-) I need a new one for Pennsic anyhow... gonna use the two. I'm sure Ern can take it with him to Pennsic for me. :-) Yup. That's what I'm gonna do. :-)

I will find us help for all the unloading,at both our camps. :-)

Do the kids have lanterns and stuff? I have two red Ikea lanterns for the girls, if you're okay with them having enclosed flame and I want to get a battery operated one for E. If they are covered, I'll have to find something else. :-)

1. Awesome. Problem solved!

2. Bonus - thank you!

3. They'd love them - thank you!

Ernie can't take the mattress. Not a problem. I'll post again to IDD. The worst that will happen is that I'll buy one on Friday night and perhaps find someone to take it to Pennsic for me. If not, I'll leave it at GNE and buy another for Pennsic. Tis all good. :-)

Would an air mattress work for you?

I'd say that I'd try and get air mattresses for my kids, so we wouldn't have to haul their crib mattresses, but I don't think they make them small enough to fit into the allotted space, and I'm loathe to take E's mattress away to make room, since the only time he's slept away from me has been on that mattress in that tent!

It's all good. I'll buy a new memory foam piece on Friday night after Ernie and I have dinner. Hugh is going to take it down to Pennsic for me. :-) Problem solved. *grin*

I actually do have a double air mattress, but it's no good for me. If it's filled up properly, it's too hard. If it's filled less, I end up on te floor or whatever it's on. :-(

but..problem is solved. :-)

Why not just fill your air mattress to the right level? >;)

Good Hugh is Good. :)

Because the right level isn't hard enough to keep me off of the board it's lying on. :-( Believe me, I tried.

and yes, Hugh is very good. :-)

I'm glad the camping went so well, despite the rain. I have only ever gone with one at a time, so your plans seemed pretty intimidating; congrats for pulling it off successfully, especially in the rain!

Danke! My kids having friends we could camp with, and their coming with AWESOME parents who happen to be MY friends as well, makes ALL the difference!

Likewise!

I spaced paying you and Ekk back for the candles; I was so beat yesterday that I didn't even think of it until this afternoon! Ergo, I owe you money!
